In addition to novel writing, I am also a professional free-lance editor. I edit/critique short stories, memoirs, novellas, non-fiction, and most genres of full-length fiction novels.

I offer three levels of services:

Overall Story Critique

This is an overall impression of plot, characterization, pacing, tension, and conflict. I usually provide a one- to two-page analysis of whether I think your story is “working” and will be competitive in today’s market. You will receive feedback on story points such as character, plot, , pacing, etc.  This service does not offer correction of any spelling errors, typos, grammatical errors, etc. For this service I charge $1.50 per page on a manuscript submitted in double-spaced, 12 pt font, Times New Roman.

Line Edits/Proofreading:

If your work is already polished, or previously published, you may only need someone to check for typos, spelling, grammar, homonyms, imagery. I will check for word choice, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and minor inconsistencies such as the heroine’s eye color magically changing etc. but nothing included in the Overall Story Critique Service.  For this service I charge $2.50 a page on a manuscript submitted in double-spaced, 12 pt font, Times New Roman.

Comprehensive Edit: The most intensive level offers an overall impression of plot, characterization, pacing, development, continuity, and ways to improve tension and conflict, and story, as well as line edits for typos, spelling, grammar, homonyms, imagery. For this service I charge $3.50 per page.

Warning, my services ares not for the faint of heart. I am brutally honest, but everything I say is with the intent to make your work the very best it can be.

I do not accept works of a graphic nature including erotica, GLBT, strong or profane language, excessive violence and gore, or horror. I also am not familiar enough with the structure of screenplays to critique those either.

Disclaimer: Because of the subjective nature of writing, I cannot guarantee you will receive a contract offer just because I edited/critiqued your work. However, most works of writing can be improved and will be more likely to do well in today’s competitive market by having been professionally edited.
