Writing “Sweet” Romance

It surprises me a little when people ask me why I chose to write romance. I didn’t honestly choose to write romance, it sorta chose me. I never woke up one day and said, “The romance market is really successful over other genres, so that’s what I’m going to write.” It happened over time. My earliest attempts at writing were adventure and mystery. Later, I turned to science fiction. By my teens, I was writing…

English Afternoon Tea, Jane Austen Style

Tea is a time-honored tradition, and to me (an American), nothing says British Custom like afternoon tea. While most of us may think of High Tea as an upper class  tradition dating back hundreds of years, I discovered something else entirely. Tea in the afternoon didn’t actually become common until the 1700’s. Honoring the Queen of Regency Romance

Today is Georgette Heyer’s birthday! Georgette Heyer is hailed by scores of fans as being the quintessential Regency Romance novelist. Most people credit her for creating not on the genre called Historical Romance, but its subgenre, Regency Romance. Heyer had a  brother who was chronically ill, so to amuse him, she wrote a series of stories. Reportedly, Jane Austen inspired Heyer to write stories that took place in England during the Regency Era. Since she…

Out with the old and in with the new

Good news! Two of my old books are being re-edited, getting new covers, and will be re-released very soon. How soon, I don’t know just yet, but I hope The Stranger She Married will be back in circulation within the next few weeks. At least that’s the plan. Oh, and I’ve made a few minor changes to it, so if you’ve already read it, you might enjoy seeing what I’ve changed. The second book in…
