Regency Chocolate

I am a total chocolate fan. Well, perhaps I should say, I have a sweet tooth that demands something creamy and decadent. I’m not really a chocolate connoisseur, and I prefer milk chocolate to dark, which apparently proves I’m don’t have a sophisticated pallet. Whatever. If it’s sweet and creamy and sinful, I love it. Which made me wonder; what was candy, and more specifically, chocolate, like in Regency England?  As it turns out,…

You could say I’m feeling really generous, or that I just love to do frequent giveaways to thank my followers for following my blog, or even that I’m being sneaky about attracting new followers–and all are true–but the sad truth is, I have nothing clever to say right now because my current work in progress is consuming so much of my creative energy. So I decided to do a giveaway. This…

Week 24: THE NEXT BIG THING BLOG HOP

There are the books everyone had heard about such as Twilight, Hunger Games, Fifty Shades of Gray. But what about all those books written by people you’ve never heard of? The Magic of a Mistletoe Kiss

The tradition of kissing under the mistletoe is as ancient as it is fun. No one seems to know the true origin of kissing under the mistletoe, but most sources seem to trace it back to old Scandinavia. It probably stems from pagan rituals, as do most Christmas traditions, even Christmas itself. Druids believed mistletoe possessed magical powers of healing—even against poison—and helped improve fertility. Other herbology claims mistletoe is both an aphrodisiac and an…

The Reluctant Bride

When I wrote my first short story, The Reluctant Bride, I was inspired by a picture. It was of a small, country road lined with trees all in autumn color. It conjured images of a meeting in a wayside inn. Out of that was born the premise for my story. I had no idea there was  a painting by that  name painted by artist Auguste Tulmouche. Isn’t this one wonderful? It makes me wonder what…

Happy Thanksgiving

I love Thanksgiving. It’s the only time my family gets together and everyone behaves themselves (mostly). I’m cooking tomorrow for 13 people. Glad it’s not for 25. Also glad it’s not for only one! We’re doing the traditional turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, corn on the cob, green bean casserole, rolls, pie.  No, my meals don’t look as beautiful as this picture! Our only deviation from the usual Thanksgiving dinner is the addition of my mom’s…
