Have you ever caught yourself saying something like, “Kids these days! Why, when I was a kid…”

I always laugh when I hear that. I know there are a lot of modern-day problems unique to our generation, however, human nature hasn’t changed all that much. Take, for example, what we do when it snows. Yes, it can be a pain to shovel sidewalks, and it’s downright scary to drive in a snowstorm and on snow-covered roads. But most people give into the temptation to go play in the snow. And they have for centuries. In an earlier post, I showed pictures of people building snowmen dating back hundreds of years. But what about snowball fights?

Yep, those too are timeless. Here is a medieval image of a man and woman having a snowball fight. Doesn’t this make you want to don some warm clothing(warmer than what they are wearing!) and join the fun?

Happy January!

(Stay warm!)

2 Thoughts on “Man versus Nature–snow”

  • Wish we had snow!!! Asking God to please think about it!! Live in Louisiana and even though we used to get it every winter…several feet…we don’t see much any more.

  • Living in Northeast Ohio, I am used to cold, snowy winters-not that I am a big fan of driving on snow–covered roads! Waiting to see how bad the snowstorm will be today and if I will be able to make it to work or not. I do have to admit that the snow is pretty on the ground and trees-if only it would stay off the roads, sidewalks and parking lots!lol
